Important insurance requirements regarding Tracking Devices

Dear Valued ZIB client,

As we know there is quite a number of vehicles that are considered high risk for theft and Hijack in South Africa and have tracking device requirements applicable, and we have been notifying you of these requirements when you have purchased new vehicles or as the requirements become applicable.

We will just like to stress the importance of the following obligations and requirements that you please need to uphold in order for you to be compliant with these tracking device requirements once fitted:

1. You need to have an active subscription with the tracking company and it needs to be paid up to date and not outstanding at the time of the theft/hijacking;
2. The tracking devices are activated and in full working condition at the time of the theft, hijacking or attempted theft or hijacking;
3. The theft or hijacking is immediately reported to the tracking company;
4. Tracking devices must be either Self-testing or tested at least every six months.

In the event of any of the above mentioned requirements not being fulfilled at the time of a claim, you can be deemed uncompliant and your claim can be rejected.
